Painting activities with young children

I have been planning to do this for the longest time, although we have an easel but I reckon the kids might find it more fun to paint on the 'wall'. They do paintings on the table on regular basis but a change of environment is always exciting for those creative juices to get excited.

Look at the excitement when she got a new color from mixing.

We ended with 4 paintings. 2 paintings were done before black paint was given. Lil Joy still enjoys using huge amount of black on her art work whenever it is available to her.

Well, she did made a cheerful looking picture. It is cute when she starts to ask me for specific colors like brown and peach for her painting. It was even cuter when I told her the color recipes and she was amazed that it worked.

the day the cow came to stay with us

Just random bits of a Friday afternoon, we chanced upon a lion dance performance after picking up Lil Joy from school. See how excited this little man is.

The rest of the evening was even better, with an amazon delivery which arrived earlier than we expected. There are 3 boxes of these 100 crayola color pencils, yes, 3 of them. One for me, one for lil Joy and one for my niece.

Whenever I get loads of colors, it is just pure happiness.

Along with the color pencils, came 3 cows. Hahaha, yes, 3 of them again, one for us and 2 for our nephews. Man, our family is really growing..

The cow is well loved with lots of riding from the kids and she gets fed and milked regularly.

Hubby came home with a rainbow cake as a surprise and Jr Joy surprised us by planning to eat it with his chopsticks. I thought it was funny and wanna to capture this moment before it never happens again.

I ended the nite by indulging in my rainbow addiction. nothing beats laying all the colors out and just look at them?? Actually I was doing color swatches for them.

Sand Play and Migrating out out of room

after the water play on friday. we had sand play on sat evening.

1 year after moving into our new place then i realised actually our corridor area is very fun to have.

we used to stay in a corridor unit and it was hard for the kids to play at the corridor without worrying the inconvenience we might cause our neighbours. so i nvr had the habit of doing activities outside our hse.

well.. our current place is a corner unit so we can play to our heart content n clean up afterward.

n boys will be boys. i dun even know tat he knew the concept of digger digging sand onto the truck.

we finally got a bed for lil joy and converted the baby cot into a junior bed.
now is on mission 'migrate kids to their own bedroom'.

i found myself a bit emo about the converting of baby cot. it is real tat my kids r growing up n my baby is not a baby anymore.

Water Play and progress in Chinese Reading

in my world of anyhow cooking.

it means stirfrying spaghetti with yakitori sauce. hahaha...

my son took his milk bottle to me after his nap n whince. apparently he wanted me to carry him while he drinks.

*Heart melt* i wonder how many more moments like this can I have. i am loving that he is more affectionate these days. Starts to kiss and hug me and hold my hands first.

i am so in love with this little man.

lil Joy had been cooperative in the morning. She did her home revision with me and so we had a little water play after her school.

Jr J went to shower first and we continue to make lots of bubbles n pretend ice creams.

i had been diligent with revising chinese with her since the beginning of the year.

i am impressed how much results consistent effort can yield. i had been on off trying to do #四五快读 with her since last year n never went further than lesson 3.

now we r at lesson 6, looks like there is possibility of finishing the whole syllabus by this year.

hee hee.. i am easily touched. when lil joy reads these sentences independently, it was like Christmas.

New School year and timing

3rd week into our new routine since lil joy changed from morning to afternoon session.

It is less rushed for me and i get a whole block of 3 hrs of undisturbed timing in the afternoon to work. but o really feel every min is used up, for cooking, fetching, marketing, working n some rare revisions n playing time.

i managed to start bedtime routine earlier by half an hr but it doesnt means the kids sleep earlier.

i ended feeling even more spent everyday. especially with Jr J requiring more attention from me everyday.

ya.. he needs me to accompany him to see the fish in the fish tank or walk ard in the hse. u know... it is hard to reject a cute toddler's request.

the dismantle-able toy

i saw this truck which the kids can dismantle. i cant resist it because that is exactly what kids like to do.

dismantle their toys. finally someone sees it.

so lil Joy is playing with it n soon they starts fighting n i had to ask lil joy to get the other tool set out.

Marketing style

haiz.. just look at the way my son sit while doodling in the pram.

after my crocheted french market bag is done, i have put it to good use. i managed to save the use of a few plastic bags.

i most prob will still be using plastic bags for raw meat and for waste disposal. but well, every little steps counts.

lil joy was having difficulty remembering some of the new chinese words n she is starting to resist chinese revision.

i then had the idea to do a memory game with the words tat she finds them difficult. apparently she remembers them.. i suppose interest is the only thing tat can make her remember.

She was very happy to find out tat the card game was the revision for chinese today.
