Nicer Sushi

Went Medi-ya at liang court n saw the sushi sets on discount. So we tot we give it a try.

First time having sea urchin n real crab on my sushi.

Tissue Pouches

Remember the lovely piece of fabric that @twinklestarz gifted me?

I made them into these tissue pouches based on one that she showed me. Finally... no more flimsy tissue packs in my bag.

I think it is a brilliant idea to use snaps for the openings becos it is hard to squeeze a giant pack of tissue thru the opening.

Haha... now i will always have something happy in my bag to touch n see.

Resale books

The resale book stall is at east point again. Nothing makes me happier than to see books.

I dun mind resale books if they r in good condition. It is less painful for my wallet and i feel i am recycling.

This time, i feel that young scientist mags are suitable for lil Joy. So i grab a few to see if she is interested.

Ended up Jr J is very interested with all the photos in it.

I felt as if i have struck 4D. Found this set at very good condition. Box was abit torn but the books r in perfect condition.

I always wonder why the pictures in the peter rabbit's books r small n in that fashion.

With this book size, i understood. They r just perfect for the small books. Surprisingly lil joy was interested in the story n see the illustrations at every turn of the page.

DIY Pompom chick house

We saw this at the shop. I nearly got it until i saw the price tag... $49.90....

Not willing to part my $$ for something which i am not sure if lil joy will continues to play for a long time. I told her i will make her one.

My first attempt of pom pom chick.

This is the 2nd time i am using the pom pom maker since i bought it like 6 or 7 years ago.

N finally it is fun..

After the first chick was made, i had more time to make the 2nd one since lil joy was busy attending to pinkie.

N i dug out my goggly eyes.

The 3rd chick made after i have finished making the hse and furniture n food.

I love this most, cos it is stout n cute.

Here r our pets.

Their house, completed with a bath, bed, toilet n larder.

It has window n door which has a door mat too.

Here r the food which we made with air dry clay. I made 2 poop n urine puddle for the toilet. Hahha..

If u ask me.. i think it is easier to spend the $50 for the toy.

But this whole afternoon process is a lesson. For lil Joy to learn tat as long as we imagine, we can make toys which r more fun (especially when she has such a resourceful mum.. hahhaha).

I hope this can be a memorable part of her childhood. The day her mom made toys with her.

Happily cycling with the kids when the rain started to pour on this hot sunny evening.

Now we r trapped at some random void deck.

School Holidays

When school holidays starts today.. even when it is only for 1 and a half week... love waking up n slowly n relaxingly have breakfast.

Montessori number board

Finally our replaced montessori board is here. Lil joy happily started doing it.

She has done this in school before and i tot she is good with the number sequence until we start doing those questions with before and after.

That was when i think she needs more reinforcement to get her foundation stronger. Also i tot Jr J will benefit from montessori materials too.

Haha.. so we have more montessori materials now.

DIY Christmas Tree

N so after a hectic morning of grocery shopping for the steamboat tonite and then a incident of a broken trolley and spilled coffee.

We finally had time to settled down n made a star.

I made the star ùsing paper tubes and lil joy painted it golden.

Piano concert

I specially make sure i attend the concert organised by my teacher. It is a piano recital for her students.

I am so glad i went n i only wished i do not need to bring the kids along so i can fully enjoy all those wonderful pieces that were presented.

I have stopped learning piano 2 years ago after the arrival of my 2nd kid becos i do not have time to sleep dun even mention abt practising.

Now, maybe i might have more time but moola r reserved for them.

Cooking Mama Clay

Woken up by my hub in the morning which is not a norm.

His exact words were 'darling, can u help me apply medicine?'

I woke up with a huh? N he told me he fell during his morning run.

N it was quite bad, bad enough tat he needs my help. Later part into the day, his colleague has to help him change his dressing.

I did loads of work.

The construction at the void deck is finally moving away. My sinus got so much better and my concentration improves so much.

While i still worked till evening time, i still find time to get this cooking mama clay figurine done. Just becos i promised my gal that i will make for her. Mine... this gal can really nag.. she has even more nagging power than my mom.

Crocheted top

Pardon the very chubby model. My nori crochet top has been washed. N it drapped most wonderfully.

I did mod the pattern slightly.

I am very happy with it but will be gifting it to a kind lady who had been so sweet to my kids. The school auntie...

Cos she mentioned that it is so nice when i was making it and i asked her to try the size for me. She would not have tot i am making it for her.

N here is the top when i lay it on my bed. It is deceiving plain looking.

The photo is not doing justice to the yarn. Cos it is a very pretty yarn with light sparkles.

N this is how i package my gift. Hahaha. Low wastage packaging.

When u kept looking at a practical project for months and did not start it because u dun have the right yarn. N u finally cannot take it anymore n just use whatever u have on hand. Haha.. here i am.. combining 2 yarn so they can be thick enough to be made into french market bag by two of wands.

Was planning to use the yarn for a top initially.

I am so glad that my gal is able to do clay work on her own now. I am working beside her while she is making pizza.

Monopoly

Sometimes i dunno to cry or laugh at the things i buy. I tot she is old enough to appreciate board game after playing snakes and ladder with her, so i bought the monopoly junior for her.

Ended up, she doesnt like it but loved it. She has been pestering us to play it with her multiple times since we bought it yesterday.

Yes, it is a good bait to get her to do her assessment books.

DIY Badge pin

Was at lil joy's school n the teacher asked me if i know how to use the badge machine.

I told her i will try n it worked.

So i had a free badge pin with the drawing from my favorite artist.

Cardboard doll house

I must be having suicidal tots when i told lil joy i will let her play with the diy 3d pony puzzle.

Naively thinking maybe she can follow the instructions n be quiet.

I opened the box to get the headache of my life. N got next few hrs of nagging from her. Asking me to finish my work n start building for her.

Then refusing to go out for dinner.

I came back after dinner n spent the next 2 hrs working on it.

Almost finishing soon... but still not quite.

DIY Clay unicorn pendant

The is the end result of half a day's work.

I was so pissed with my carelessness with the white clay.. resulting in a grey n dirty looking unicorn which costs me lots of time to clean it up.

Not my best work. I have nvr done a mane b4 and have not much idea how to place them.

If u notice, i place a little silver heart on its butt. Heehee

I proceed to make my first geometric bead necklace.

Which again has its learning curve. Also my first time using gold leafing.

I must say, i am pretty pleased with the result.

This is meant as a gift, i think i will make one for myself too.

Becos lil joy finished all my daiso washi tape, so i replenish them.

So while waiting and to keep the kids busy.

I let her decorate the led candle with tapes.

N decorate my son's arms with tapes.

Then i left for the supermarket and came back with a transformed gal. She is now light enabled.

Tired die us. Lil's joy concert finally ended.

The timing for this year's concert is at 7pm. Haiz.. too late n the kids missed their afternoon naps. Making both very cranky after the ride home..

It is like the most treasured peaceful time now. I was tired but now super awake.

Clay Unicorn process

Clay for an hr. Planning to make lil gifts for the token of kindness from ppl in my life. But only did this so far.

I am really rusty in my clay.

Crocheted Shawl - Once upon a time

After completing it for more than 6 mths. I finally dug this out n sew in the ends.

Then i stared at it n wonder wat is this shawl. Totally no idea..

So i asked my partner in crime n she helped m scroll back 6 mths of our endless chat n dayre to find out that.. this is a 'once upon a time' shawl.

Hahaha. Best to document it down.

Hello kitty playset

My family, whole family including my parents, bro n sis n their kids came over to my place for a visit.

Because they happen to be free n wanna to go changi airport for the hello kitty thingy.

And also to cheer me a little n relief my stress abit.

They brought lil joy out for the HK display and she came back with an early christmas pressie.

My gal has grown up, she is able to place the stickers on her own now.

I must say, she did a pretty good job.

She even tried to set up the scene on the box.

Shekinah Learning Curve Kindergarten Review 2

As mentioned in the previous post, I am sharing some of the works done by Lil Joy to let u all have an small idea of the school curriculum.

Here are the some of the work of lil Joy at the end of 1st term with the school. She started with writing squiggly lines to proper writing within 3 months.

Here is one of the project approach activites in Term 3, they were doing nursery rhymes that term. Lil Joy is starting to do copying work at K1. It is not the best but it was an achievement for her.

By end of Term 3, the K1 students have already learnt addition and subtraction within 20. The rest of the Term 4 was spent on reinforcing the concept. I am surprised that Primary one preparation has already begin at the end of term 3.

After 12 mths of school, Lil Joy is able to read simple story books independently and write simple sentences.

Here some of the books that the school uses and Lil Joy is able to read them on her own.

At almost the end of Term 3 this year, the teachers invited the parents the the school for a mini nursery rhymes performance from the children. Everyone had a blast and I am sure it will be very good memories for the children. I am posting the photo with only my girl here due to privacy issues.

She is the little Miss Muffet.

The school also have school holidays program on every school holidays. It really helps me to eliminate the trouble to find holiday programs for her to widen her learning experiences.
